Title of the Talk
From Perimeter to Zero Trust: Reinventing Security in Mission-Critical Systems with Continuous Verification and AI.
Abstract
Cyber threats in mission-critical sectors such as healthcare, finance, and public safety have grown significantly, exposing the limitations of traditional perimeter-based security models. In environments handling large-scale financial operations and highly sensitive patient and law enforcement data, even a single breach can have serious consequences. This session explores how Zero Trust Architecture transforms cybersecurity by replacing implicit trust with a "never trust, always verify" model, enforcing continuous authentication across every access request. We will examine how Zero Trust reduces attack surfaces through micro-segmentation and least-privilege access, effectively restricting lateral movement and minimising the impact of breaches. Attendees will learn how organisations leveraging continuous verification and behavioural analytics have achieved meaningful reductions in security incidents and faster threat detection, with automated responses helping reduce attacker dwell time and remediation effort.
The session also highlights the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in enhancing Zero Trust through real-time anomaly detection, adaptive risk scoring, and dynamic policy enforcement, enabling systems to respond instantly to evolving threats. Case studies across regulated industries demonstrate how this approach strengthens compliance while improving operational resilience and auditability.
Finally, we will address real-world adoption challenges, including legacy system integration, performance considerations, and cultural resistance, and provide practical strategies to balance strong security with seamless user experience.
